The Brief
Punir and Marina wanted their wedding to feel personal, relaxed and, most importantly, like them.
They didn’t want anything too formal or a ceremony that sounded like it had come straight from a standard wedding script. They wanted their story, their personalities and plenty of moments their friends and family could relate to.
They chose Darryl Rees as their Wedding Celebrant and MC in Dubai, which meant I could take care of the ceremony and then carry things straight through into the reception.
Same person, same personality, same energy throughout the day. 🎤💍
The Ceremony
Before the wedding, I spent some time getting to know Punir and Marina properly. How they met, their relationship, their personalities, the funny stories and, of course, the moments that meant the most to them.
Then it was my job to turn all of that into their ceremony.
The goal was pretty simple:
Make them laugh…. 😂
Make them emotional…. 🥲
Keep the guests involved….
And make the whole thing feel like Punir and Marina. ♥️
Nothing too formal. Nothing dragged out.
We had plenty of laughs, some emotional moments and a few stories along the way, while still making sure the important parts of the ceremony had their moment.
Most importantly, it didn’t feel like I was standing there reading a wedding script.
It was their story, told in front of the people who mattered most to them.
From “I Do” to the Reception 🎤
Once the ceremony was finished, it was time to swap Wedding Celebrant for Wedding MC.
The nice thing was, there wasn’t really a changeover.
I already knew Punir and Marina, I knew their story, I knew the families and by this point I’d already built a connection with the guests.
So we could take the atmosphere from the ceremony and carry it straight into the reception.
From welcoming everyone and introducing the big moments to speeches, announcements and everything else happening throughout the evening, I could keep things moving without it suddenly feeling like a completely different event.
Keeping Everything Flowing
A good Wedding MC does a lot more than stand there with a microphone and make announcements. 😂🎤
There’s normally a lot happening behind the scenes at a wedding.
Timings move. Speeches run over. Dinner might be slightly late. Someone disappears just as they’re supposed to be introduced. 😂
My job was to work alongside the wedding planner, venue and suppliers and make sure Punir, Marina and their guests didn’t have to worry about any of it.
If timings changed, we adapted.
If the room needed a bit more energy, we lifted it.
If a moment needed a little more time, we gave it that time.
As far as the guests were concerned, they could just enjoy the wedding. 🥂
Why Celebrant + MC Works So Well 🎤💍
Having the same person host both parts of the wedding just makes sense.
For Punir and Marina, it meant one familiar face taking them from the ceremony straight into the celebrations.
One person. One personality. From “I do” to the dance floor…. 🕺🎉
By the time we reached the reception, I already understood their personalities, their families and the kind of atmosphere they wanted.
There was no new MC suddenly appearing halfway through the wedding and starting from scratch.
We just carried on the celebration.
And Punir and Marina?
They could grab a drink, enjoy the party and actually enjoy their own wedding. 🥂😂
