About Me
Darryl Rees - Dubai Entertainer & Event Host
Professional entertainer & event host
Some things you might not know about Darryl…
Born in Swansea, Wales, Darryl was the class clown who loved entertaining people. He studied accounting and finance at Swansea University because he liked numbers, but stepping in when the DJ cancelled at a friend's 16th birthday set him on a different path.
In 2012, a friend from Swansea landed a DJ opportunity in the UAE, so Darryl tagged along. After a month without a DJ gig, he took a corporate job in wealth management - cold-calling during the week and DJing at weekends.
His MC journey began 14 years ago as a quizmaster. Two years later he quit the corporate job to go full time, taking his love of hosting from quiz nights to weddings, corporate events and much bigger stages.
Away from the microphone, Darryl plays squash, teaches spin and follows F1. His unexpected claim to fame? He was once ranked 17th in Wales for under-18 table tennis - so he's always enjoyed bringing personality and a bit of friendly competition to a room.
Darryl is the founder of Box Entertainment, a boutique entertainment and events company based in Dubai.
