Katie Price and Lee Andrews’ Dubai Wedding with Celebrant Darryl Rees

Getting a last-minute call about a wedding isn’t unusual in my line of work. Finding out it’s Katie Price and Lee Andrews’ wedding does make you stop for a second, though!

I was asked to be their wedding celebrant in Dubai, with very little time to prepare. After a few changes to the arrangements, their symbolic wedding ceremony went ahead at One&Only The Palm, on Palm Jumeirah.

Once I arrived and we started chatting, the celebrity side of things soon faded into the background. We were having a laugh from the start, and my focus was on helping Katie and Lee feel comfortable and ready to exchange their vows.

Putting the Ceremony Together

When couples book Darryl Rees as their wedding celebrant, we usually have plenty of time to get to know each other. We talk about how they met, what they love about each other and any stories they’d like included.

With Katie and Lee, we worked through messages and a voice note. They shared a few details that mattered to them, including their matching 1111 tattoos and what finding each other meant to them.

I used those details to personalise the reading, alongside the vows and ring exchange. Even with a short turnaround, I wanted the words to feel like theirs.

A Small Wedding at One&Only The Palm

For a celebrity wedding in Dubai, it was a small gathering at One&Only The Palm, with just a handful of people watching Katie and Lee exchange their vows.

One thing I remember was how much they were laughing and holding hands. There was plenty of affection between them, and they were enthusiastic when it came to saying their vows.

That gave me something to work with as a celebrant. You can prepare the wording, but you also need to pay attention to the people in front of you. Sometimes you give a moment a little breathing room. Other times, a bit of humour helps everyone relax.

The Part I Played

My role was to lead their symbolic ceremony, deliver the reading and guide them through their vows and rings.

The short notice meant being flexible and making the most of the information they could share beforehand. It also meant arriving ready to settle in quickly and build a connection with them in person.

Afterwards, I stayed for a glass of champagne and a chat before leaving them to enjoy the rest of their afternoon.

I later spoke to The Sun about conducting the ceremony and how the arrangements came together. It was certainly a memorable booking!

Looking for a Wedding Celebrant in Dubai?

If you’re planning your own ceremony, we can start with a chat about the two of you and how you’d like it to feel. You might want something light-hearted, something more traditional, or a mixture of both.

I’m a wedding celebrant, MC and DJ, so I can also help carry the celebrations through to your reception and dance floor.
